О месте: Layan Beach
Layan is the northern end of Bang Tao Bay, cut off from the main beach by a rocky headland. It is a long curve of soft sand with casuarinas along the back, and at its northern end a small river runs out to sea beside a wooded island, with fishing boats moored in the river.
Until recently a handful of small restaurants stood under the trees; all have been removed except one at the far end, near the island, which also offers massage in a bamboo house. The long-running Dream Beach Club has closed. Behind the sand are luxury resorts, including the Anantara Layan, whose Beach House has a pool bar on the beach and a rooftop bar above it.
Locals and expats come here for a slow lunch, a massage and the sunset rather than for activities. From November to April the sea is usually calm; from May to October the waves grow, and the beach is emptier still.

Layan is one of Phuket's most upmarket corners. Luxury resorts and villa estates such as the Anantara Layan, Kora Beach Resort and a newer Radisson sit behind the sand, with the Banyan Tree and the Laguna resorts just south; cheaper guesthouses are inland around Cherng Talay.

Layan Beach с детьми
Layan suits families who want a calm, shaded day more than facilities. The lagoon at the north end is a place for small children to paddle, but there is only one small restaurant on the sand and no lifeguards.

Drive to Bang Tao and follow the signs to the Banyan Tree. Pass its gates, turn right at the T-junction and follow the road for a few kilometres to its end at Layan.
- На машине. About 20 to 25 minutes from the airport, 40 from Patong and 45 from Phuket Town. The last stretch can be narrow where cars park along the road.
