О месте: Bang Tao Beach
Bang Tao is one of Phuket's longest beaches, an arc of light sand between Surin and Layan in Cherngtalay. From November to April the sea is calm and shallow with a gentle sandy entry, and casuarina trees give free shade along most of the shore.
The middle of the bay belongs to Laguna Phuket, with its lagoons, golf course and large resorts, and to the island's best-known beach clubs, where sunset is the main event. Walk north and the crowds thin out: that end is wide, clear and often almost empty.
From May to October the open bay takes the full monsoon swell. It is the season for surfers, runners and long walks rather than swimming, and the beach looks wild and quiet. Shops, restaurants and schools are a short drive inland all year.

The day visitors' third: most public access roads come down here and the Surin headland closes the view. It changed in 2026, when the small bars on the sand were cleared.

Bang Tao Beach с детьми
In the high season Bang Tao is one of the easiest beaches on the island with children: shallow, sandy, shaded and never far from a toilet or a pool.
- Shallow water and a gentle sandy entry from November to April.
- Casuarina shade along most of the shore, free.
- A rope swing hangs under the trees at the top of the beach; a playground is reported but not confirmed.
- Family-friendly clubs: XANA, Casuarina, NORA's family cabana and RAVA's kids' corner.
- Several resorts run kids' clubs and children's pools.

There is no single entrance: several access roads branch off the coast road to different parts of the beach, and the middle is reached through Laguna.
- Grab и такси. Grab works well here and is the simplest way from the airport.
- На скутере. The northern access roads are narrow but fine by scooter.
- Smart Bus. The Phuket Smart Bus runs from the airport for a flat 100 THB and stops near Laguna, but only about three services a day call there.
- Местный автобус. A local bus from Phuket Town is reported to stop near the southern village for about 30 THB; the route is not confirmed.
Парковка. Free, mostly informal parking by the access roads; resorts and clubs have their own. Boat Avenue's free car park fills on Friday evenings.

- Anyone who likes a beach-club day: a pool by the sea, a sunbed with lunch on it, a DJ at sunset.
- Walkers and runners who want kilometres of firm sand every morning.
- People staying a month or a year who want supermarkets, schools, golf and cafes five minutes from the water.
- Anyone after quiet without driving to the far north: the northern end is empty most days.

- Swimmers who want the sea every day of the year: from May to October the bay belongs to surfers.
- Night owls: there are no discos, and the southern bars closed in 2026.
- Anyone after the cheapest sunbed: the clubs work on minimum spends and Laguna's sand is the priciest.
- Anyone hoping to step from an ordinary rental onto the sand: the first line is resorts and expensive villas.

Bring a towel
Vendors may only set up in marked zones, about a tenth of the beach; the rest is free to sit on.
Come before eleven for shade
Casuarina shade is generous in the morning and shrinks by late morning.
What a sunbed costs
About 100 to 150 THB a day in high season at ordinary operators, front row more, sometimes free with drinks.
Walk at low tide
The firm wet sand at low tide is the best surface on the island for a long walk or a run.
Smoke only where signs allow
Thailand's beach smoking ban carries fines up to 100,000 THB; where exactly it applies is unclear, so do not test it.
Dogs
Dogs are generally tolerated; in the high-season peak ask the nearest venue before letting one off the lead.
Friday parking
Boat Avenue's free car park fills on Friday evenings when the market runs, 16:00 to 21:00. Come early or walk in.
The Smart Bus is rare here
It is 100 THB from the airport, but only about three a day stop near Laguna. Grab is usually the honest answer.
Vendors are easy-going
A few sellers with drinks, fruit and corn; nobody pushes.
Massage prices
A massage under the trees is about 200 to 250 THB.
