关于Freedom Beach
Freedom Beach is a crescent of soft white sand about 300 m long on the west side of the headland between Patong and Karon, with turquoise water and granite rocks at both ends. No road reaches the sand: you arrive by longtail boat, about 10 minutes from the south end of Patong, or on foot down a steep jungle trail from the road above.
In 1996 it was deserted; a path followed, and social media has made it well known. The beach itself has kept its soft sand and clear water, with basic toilets and showers; there is no restaurant on the sand now, so bring water and snacks. Mornings are the quietest time, before the boat groups arrive.
In August 2026 officials temporarily closed the beach to visitors; reopening depends on sea and weather conditions, with no fixed date. Check the current status before you go.

Hike down the jungle trail
From Lek Sand Beach Bar, 15 to 20 minutes down with ropes on the steep parts; a rougher 25 to 30-minute trail starts on Patong Hill Road.

Arrive before 10:00, when the light is soft and the sand is still nearly empty.
Swim to the rocks at either end, where the water is clearest and the fish are most plentiful.
Meet your boat at the agreed time. Hikers can take the 4x4 tuk-tuk up to the parking area for about 100 THB when it runs.

Freedom Beach suits families with older children who can manage a steep walk or a longtail landing in shallow water. It is not recommended for toddlers, and there is no lifeguard post, so swim only on calm days.

By longtail from the pontoon at the south end of Patong, or on foot from the Patong-Karon road. The main trail starts at Lek Sand Beach Bar, where scooters park for 100 THB and the 200 THB entry fee is paid.

- 步行： Trail 1 from Lek Sand Beach Bar: 15 to 20 minutes down, steep in places with ropes. Trail 2 from Patong Hill Road, about 80 m past Rasta Baby Bar: 25 to 30 minutes and rougher.
- 骑摩托车： Ride to Lek Sand Beach Bar on the Patong-Karon road and park there for 100 THB.
- Grab 和出租车： Grab or InDrive can drop you at the top of the trail; arrange the ride back in advance.
停车： Scooter parking at Lek Sand Beach Bar, 100 THB. A car park about 200 m above the bay is reached along the road past Avista Hideaway.
