关于Ao Yon Beach

Ao Yon is a quiet bay on Phuket's south-east coast, between Panwa Beach and Cape Panwa, about 8 km from Phuket Town. It is easy to drive past without noticing, and it keeps the feel of a residential, local beach, with tall palm trees, yachts at anchor and Thai families picnicking in the shade at weekends.

A rocky headland splits it into two bays: the larger Ao Yon Yai, with Bandara Villas, V Villas and a few small restaurants and beach clubs, and the smaller Ao Yon Noi, home to The Cove and The Mooring resort. On some weekends locals practise dragon-boat and small sailing-boat races in the bay.

Because it faces east, Ao Yon is protected from the strong south-west monsoon winds and waves, so it is one of the few Phuket beaches you can swim at in the low season. The ends of the beach can look neglected at that time, and public facilities are few, so it suits people with their own car or scooter who want calm water and a slower pace.

Ao Yon is in the Cape Panwa area, about 8 km from Phuket Town and 20 to 30 minutes' drive, between Panwa Beach and Cape Panwa. The entrance is easy to miss; look for small 'restaurant' signs.

  • 自驾： About 20 to 30 minutes from Phuket Town; from the west coast it is a cross-island trip.
  • 骑摩托车： The easiest way to combine the beach with the aquarium and viewpoint.
  • Grab 和出租车： There is no direct public transport; take a taxi from Phuket Town for the last leg.
