Phuket's international airport (IATA HKT, ICAO VTSP) on the north-west coast by Mai Khao Beach: the island's main gateway and Thailand's third busiest airport after Bangkok's two.

Phuket's international airport sits on the north-west coast by Mai Khao Beach, some 32 km from Phuket Town. Three terminals stand side by side: international, domestic and Terminal X for charters. Rental desks, limousine counters and metered taxis wait outside arrivals; cheaper rides are the orange airport bus to Phuket Town, an express bus to Patong, the Smart Bus down the west-coast beaches to Rawai and shared minibuses to Patong, Kata and Karon.
