About Wat Phadung Tham Phothi (the Big Buddha)

A quiet old temple in Bang Niang, little visited by tourists, where Thai and Myanmar monks live and the Myanmar community holds its ordinations and ceremonies. Its front wall is sculpted as elephants rising from lotus flowers, and at the back of the shady compound sits a 7-metre white Buddha in a golden robe. The old halls are damaged and unused, which gives the place a worn, authentic air.
