About Waankarn

A Southern Thai restaurant in the centre of Khao Lak that cooks the region's old recipes, many from Takua Pa, and plates them in a modern way. Try the moo hong, pork belly slow-braised in sweet dark soy, and the house salad of red pomelo and Phuket pineapple; the curries and stir-fries are spicier than central Thai food, but the staff will tone them down if asked. The building nods to Southern Thai architecture and the room is relaxed. Open daily from 10 am to 10 pm.
