About Khaotha Cafe

An unpolished, likeable coffee shop on Ranong Road, full of odd collections — old film cameras, toys, a row of landline phones, a red altar glowing in a corner. The name means roughly "makes sense" in Thai. The coffee is the point: beans grown without chemicals in the forests around Pai, espresso in three roasts, each cup brought on a wooden tray with a little tea on the side, at some of the lowest prices in the Old Town. Food stops at a few desserts. Open daily from 7 am to 5 pm.
