About Memories Beach Bar
A beach bar and restaurant on the sand at Pakarang, north of Khao Lak centre, and the reason the surfers' beach in front of it is called Memories Beach. Its owner opened it in 2009 where his family's restaurant stood before the 2004 tsunami, and named it for the friends who died. The kitchen does Thai food and international plates, the bar beer, cocktails and fruit drinks. From April to November the waves draw surfers, and the bar offers lessons and boards; in the high season there is a fire show on the beach every night, and on Fridays dinner is by candle light.

Opened in October 2009 by its owner, Ching, on the site of his family's restaurant, which the 2004 tsunami destroyed; the name is a tribute to the friends who died in it.

From Highway 4 at Khao Lak centre, take the first left after the Wat Kom Nai Khet school and follow the dirt road for about 3 km, past the Elephant Home.
From Pakarang Beach, cross the river at Apsara Beach Resort.
