About Wat Phra Thong

A temple in the north of the island whose golden Buddha rises only to its chest from the ground. Local legend says the image could not be dug out — hornets drove the diggers away — so the temple was built around it. Entry is free and it opens daily from 8 am to 5:30 pm.
