About Tukta Food & Drink

A Thai restaurant stacked over several levels on the rocks at the southern tip of Surin Beach, the one sit-down restaurant left on that stretch after the beach was cleared of its restaurants in 2014–2016. Waves break just below the tables; the upper floors, reached by stairs at the back, are breezier and quieter. The food is honest Thai beach fare at inland prices, and Surin faces west, so the sun sets into the sea in front of you. Bring cash.

What to do

A rough coastal path from the rocks below leads north to Laem Singh Beach: 15–20 minutes over boulders.

Cuisine

Standard Thai beach food done well: pad thai, fried and pineapple rice, som tam, curries, fried calamari, prawns, whole fish (usually red snapper); coconuts and shakes.

Prices

Cheap: the prices of a street inland, not of a table on the water (phuket101, 2026).

Setting

Several levels built into the rocky slope over the water; the stairs to the upper floors are at the back, and the upper floors are breezier and quieter.

Best time

Sunset (between about 18:05 and 18:50 by the month), with 45 minutes in hand for a front table; at lunch in high season before noon or after 14:00.

Facilities

Suits

Lunch or a sunset drink with a view over the bay.

Not for

A quiet table at peak times: it is busy most afternoons.
