Lock Tien

Food court · Talat Nuea

A family-run Phuket food shop of old local dishes in Phuket Town; its open-air food court on the corner of Yaowarat and Dibuk roads closed, and the family reopened 600 m south on Bangkok Road with the same cooks and dishes.

About Lock Tien

For years Lock Tien was the open-air food court on the corner of Yaowarat and Dibuk roads; that corner is now boarded up, and the family cooks the same Phuket Hokkien dishes 600 metres south on Bangkok Road. The room is plainer — no courtyard, no crowd on the pavement — but parking is easy. Each dish hangs on a photo panel labelled in Thai and English — lo ba, satay, o-tao, Phuket fish balls, o-aew, spring rolls, pork rib noodle soup — and you can order by pointing at the awning outside. The old signboard and family photographs came along. Cheap, and open 09:00–19:00.
