Black Ginger

The Thai restaurant of The Slate, a resort by Nai Yang Beach near the airport. Guests walk down a decorated passage to a pier on a small lake, where a raft takes them across to a cluster of old wooden houses: an open-air bar for a drink first, then the dining room. The kitchen cooks Thai food, with a chef's tasting set and a vegetarian one. It is expensive and opens in the evening; the setting is at its best just after sunset.
