About Heroines Monument (Thao Thep Kasattri and Thao Si Sunthon)
The island's most important monument, on the main road in Thalang: two sisters who rallied Phuket's defenders when the Burmese besieged Thalang in 1785. Each March a three-day festival on the nearby Victory Field marks the anniversary of the Burmese retreat. The road around it is busy, so early morning or evening is easiest.
